Reminder and a Plea

Reminder: Today is the last day to enter the fabulous giveaway from Stitches N’ Giggles! It is part of the SewMamaSew Giveaway Day. Lori is giving away a Layer Cake of Lucy’s Crab Shack, so head over to the post and enter if you haven’t already, today is the last day!

Now for the plea: This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. A time for all of us to pause and remember. This weekend I will remember my Grandpa, my Papa, and my Grandma – all of whom served in World War II. I will be thinking of my husband who is serving overseas right now and I will be thinking of the men and women he serves with.  Please take a moment to remember those who decided to stand on a wall.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend and a great start to summer.

  1. thanks for the reminder and the plea . I think most people view this weekend as the kick off for summer ; and a long weekend . My husband served ; he was overseas in the desert during Desert Storm . I guess I’ll have to be nice to him this weekend ( ! ) . God Bless all who have and are serving !

Beautiful reminder! We will indeed! Honoring our family members and those of our friends. Thank you Melissa for the sacrifices you and your family make daily!

We don’t have Memorial Day in the UK, (Remembrance Day in Nov), but thoughts with you and those who continue to be affected.

  4. Lisa L. says:

I think about all the military service members daily, and will be saying extra special prayers for safety and of thanks for their sacrifices. (Hard not to with a little brother overseas and my best friend’s husband.) Especially for your husband and all of those overseas.

  5. Sondra says:

Very important post, they are all in our hearts.

  6. Snoodles says:

They are in our hearts and in our prayers — I just mailed off some blocks for a QOV, and dedicated them to my precious dad-in-law, who was a WWII vet. Warm hugs to you and little Anne!

  7. beautiful though i hope every one heed it and they drive safe

I just a few moments ago entered at SNG. Tomorrow my brother, sister and I will put flags on all our deceased warriors resting places. While we do we will be looking at all the flags flying in our small towns. They place a flag for each member of the service all along the drive at the cemetary. My little town places flags atop the bridge that crosses a 71 highway here in Missouri . This starts today and is done everyday thru sundown on Monday. My family will also decorate all our other relatives resting places. We then come back to my house, have a cook out and remember all the great times we had with them. Our family celebrates the fallen warriors as well as the active duty and retired warriors. Thinking of all the men and women who have and are risking everything to protect us for the last 236 years.

Thanks Melissa for the great reminder. Thinking of your husband and my son who is also serving. Thanks also to the families who sacrifice as well and keep things at home running smoothly. Praying for a safe and speedy return of our deployed military.
