Today is my 30th Birthday. For my 30th birthday my husband decided to be the most wonderful man in the world! He bought me a brand new Janome Horizon 7700!
Even the box is pretty – it weighed 26 lbs! |
I took pictures of the unpacking and setting up process. I was just so giddy!
Toys (also known as feet – 15 in all, and instruction manual w/DVD) |
So pretty! |
All set up with her extension table! |
I finished my first quilt block on her the day after I opened the box. Check it out!
Chevrons are all the rage – look for a tutorial on this block later this month! |
I have already decided that she is a she, but I don’t know what I want to name her…which is where my giveaway comes into play.
I want our faithful brother lover readers to suggest names for my sewing machine. You will have three chances to win some fabulous prizes!
There will be one grand prize winner who will receive…
A Heather Bailey pattern for the Happy Stacker Ring Toy, Small Stash Sewing: 24 Projects Using Designer Fat Quarters (forward by Amy Butler), and one “Little Wallet” (the pattern is by Valori Wells, and it is made by yours truly).
2 versions of the “Little Wallet” |
Mr. Random Number Generator will pick a second winner and that person will also receive a wallet
Wallet winners will get to choose between a small wallet for business cards or a large wallet that can hold a Blackberry/iPhone/iPod with a Bluetooth headset – the fabric will be out of my stash and will not necessarily be one of the wallets pictured above)
- Leave me one comment with a name suggestion for my new machine
- Follow our blog and leave a second comment telling me that you are a current or new follower
- Like us on Facebook and leave me a comment here telling me that you did
**** for a bonus entry – blog, twitter or facebook about this giveaway and comment with the link that you did!
Make sure to tell me which type of wallet you want with each entry – small or large is good enough 🙂
This contest will be open from July 2nd until July 7th. This giveaway is now closed. The winner will be announced on Friday, July 8th. Good Luck and get creative with those names!!!
I think Rosemary is a good name.

I like you on facebook now 😀

I feel weird giving inanimate objects "real" people names, so I tend to give them cutesy names. I'm thinking your new little lady would be a cute "Buttercup".
And I'd be happy with either wallet {but have to say that folksy flower print is SUPER adorable!}.
Hi there
That little lady is like a Genie or Jeanie 🙂
Magic does happen
Cheers

oooo! Congrats and happy birthday! What a wonderful gift! And thanks for giving on your birthday to! I'd say anything sewn on a new sewing machine is good, but I'm sewing new shorts for my boys here today.
Name….hmmm…Janie Janome! 😉 I LOVE Janome! What I sew with and want to upgrade my serger too!
As for wallet size, I'd go large! Thanks!
How about "sew-migty" (twist on so mighty machine 😉

new follower. and I would pick small wallet.
new fan on FB
I like old-fashioned names for things that are workhorses, so my suggestion is Edith.
Wallet size….um…either is good, I could use both sizes!
I'm a blog follower. (Either size is good for me!)
I think her name should be Ruby or possibly Scarlet, as her colour really does indicate her vibrant nature! This is my first visit and I think your blog is great!
I am a new follower. I think the large wallet would be great. Thanks and Happy Birthday!
I believe a great name for your newest machine is Solaine – A French girls name meaning dignified. It is said that ladies w/ this name have a deep inner desire to create and express themselves! have a wonderful birthday!
I am a follower! thank you!
Shoot I was going to go with Scarlett also, but some one beat me to it. So I guess I am going to go with my second option – Emma. I just like the vintage names I guess. 🙂

My suggestion for her name would be either Jubilee or Jade. I like Jubilee though… makes me smile! 🙂
Red-sassy and adventuresome like you and your new machine will be I hope.
I think her name should be Franny.
I follow your blog.
Judy. A lot of impressive quilters are named Judy.
Large wallet, please. 😉
I think Janey is a good idea!

I think Jan is a good name. Maybe even Pearl, Ruby, or Jewel~ 🙂
Wow, you lucky girl~ happy belated!
Niki in HOT, stinkin' HOT Arizona.
I follow your lovely blog~
I'm a follower! I could use the bigger wallet:)
I have a Janome and love it. I have never named it, but maybe I should. I have heard the commercials for the Horizon on the Quilting for the Rest of Us on iTunes. Since yours is a Horizon, I suggest an explorer name like Sacajawea (which is a mouthful–but I like it) or maybe Sally Ride. I also like the name Millicent. It sounds like a seamstress.
Happy Birthday!!!
I think Genevieve would be a good name. But my favorite that I've seen abobve is Millicent!
I'm a new follower!
Hmmmm….How about Nome (No-me)? Taking the last part of Janome. I tried to scramble the letters…for example Naome (Naomi), but I'm not sure if that works.
I've always had the soft spot for the name Lola. I think your new baby fits the name. You're so lucky.
Hmmmm…..a name…..Scarlet – for that pretty red color she has. Thanks for the opportunity to enter your giveaway!
I am a regular follower of your wonderful blog 🙂
I like "Sandie" which means helper of mankind and prefer the large wallet.
Thanks,

I would love to win (large wallet), and I think a good name would be Gertie. Don't you think that sounds like a great workhorse name for a good sewing machine! 🙂 By the way, my birthday was July 2nd, too….except I turned 59–almost double your age!!! LOL! Belated Happy Birthday to you!
Happy belated Birthday!!! you have a very wonderful husband, I will nagging my husband to buy one for me too.. 😀 My birthday is coming this August ;D
Well, a name huh?? how about "Iris" .. I think the name is pretty 😀
I am following your lovely blog too..
Thanks for the chance 😀
I loves the large wallet 😀
"Jenny" It's a name that reminds me of crafting – because the spinning jenny and also a workhorse as jenny is another name for donkey.
Have fun learning to use her and all those "toys".
Sally Mae might work. I haven't named mine – guess I should think about it
I now follow
Surely she's a Janet!!
I'm a new follower!!

Happy Birthday and I think she's a Stella. Something needs to get picked out…..Stellaaaaaaaaa!
Beautiful quilt by the way… Love the colours you chose for the chevron! I for one think you should name your pretty little machine Janine… or Alice!!!
And If I were to win I would choose the bigger wallet!! Thanks for the giveaway!
I like Sadie! Sadie Sewer!
I suggest Queen Oolga (with the long ooooo sound like "oooo, ahhhh") or Queen Maude! For she is a Queen, all hail the Queen!
I am now a follower!
I have now "liked" you on facebook!
I'm very simple when I name things. Mr. Machine is my suggestion.
I always name my daughter's stuffed animals and toys exactly what they are.
I am a current follower.
I already like you on facebook.
AND ALSO I have just blogged about this giveaway on my blog!!!
YAY! <3
(this is vanessa from toddler gym by the way!)
I would name her Stella!

Happy birthday! I loooove my Horizon, her name is Betty. 🙂 (After a sun-faded old station wagon that DH drove in college. It supposedly used to be a deep red, but it was faded to a dusty rose. I named the wagon Betty. The red on my machine reminds me of the wagon!)
I think Claire would be a cute name! And I love the small wallet.
