4th of July Swap

Happy Thursday! Sorry there was no post yesterday for Not-So-Wordless Wednesday, I had a doctors appointment and didn’t have time to get my act together.

I am in a swap group on Facebook and the theme for this round is Fourth of July, sewists choice. Meaning we could make anything we wanted so long as it was Fourth of July themed. I started by making some quarter square triangles and after I had about 20 I started playing with them and came up with this little wall hanging.

4th of July Time Wall Hanging - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comThe backing I love because it is a solid piece of fabric but it totally looks pieced. I like to call this “Cheater Fabric”.

Cheater Fabric - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comMy label ended up being wonky instead of straight because I forgot to add it until the binding was already sewn to the front of the quilt. OOPS!

I’m very happy with how this turned out and really want to expand the design on the front and see where it goes for a larger quilt.

Quilt Stats:
Title: 4th of July Time (the QSTs make me think of hour glasses)
Designed & Quilted by: Melissa Dunworth
Quilting: All over meander using Coats & Clark quilting thread
Measures 21″ x 21″

I hope you have a very happy Thursday!

It’s amazing how just a twist or turn produces such a different effect! I looked at the edges first, then noticed the center star – well done! The cheater fabric back is perfect too!

Wonky adds character. This is a stunning design. I think it would look incredible on a larger quilt.
