More Christmas Sewing

Well, I never got my picture with Santa Claus in our shirts, but we did wear them on Christmas Day!  Here is a picture of us with my sweet nephew.

Christmas 2015 - http://staging.sewbittersweetdedesigns.comNext year I will have to make that little man a shirt so we can all match for the picture! This was a free design from Urban Threads.  They are such a generous company, every month they give away free designs and I have to say, that it is really what got me started using the embroidery function of my machine. Now I buy from them all the time… probably too often!

Christmas 2015 - http://staging.sewbittersweetdedesigns.comAnd because I am a mom to a ridiculously cute little girl, I thought I would show you how adorable she looked on Christmas Eve! That tree skirt in the background is a log cabin tree skirt that is hand tied and dates back to the 80s. I have very fond memories of it coming out each year to decorate our home (see there are quilts in this post!).

Christmas 2015 - http://staging.sewbittersweetdedesigns.comSanta must know that Anne is a quilter because he brought her this awesome mini tangram puzzle, Anne shouldn’t be at all surprised if mommy steals (*ahem*) borrows it.

Christmas 2015 - http://staging.sewbittersweetdedesigns.comFrom my little family to yours, I hope you had a wonderful holiday and we all wish you a very Happy New Year!

A Lovely Year of Finishes – Final Thoughts

A Lovely Year of FinishesA Lovely Year of Finishes

A Lovely Year of Finishes

The last three years have been so much fun, Shanna and I have really enjoyed managing and running A Lovely Year of Finishes.

We have had the opportunity to work with some incredible sponsors and we have been lucky to see so many wonderful finishes, and finish a few projects ourselves.

That being said, we have decided it is time to take a break from A Lovely Year of Finishes, and it is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the end of A Lovely Year of Finishes.

We want to thank each and every person who linked up with us over the last three years. Give yourselves a huge round of applause, there have been over 3,000 finished projects linked up to our blogs. Talk about amazing!

We want to thank our incredible sponsors.  Your generosity has be unparalleled.

This doesn’t mean that Shanna and I are going away or that our wonderful friendship is ending, merely that we want some time to re-focus ourselves, our blogs, and our sewing.  We are excited for the future and we hope that you will keep up with your finishes.

The group on Facebook will still be live and you are always welcome to keep posting there if you need some cheer leading!

Now if you were able to successfully link up and complete 6 finishes this year, make sure you visit on January 1st for our 2015 Finale Link up – lots of great prizes will be awarded.

I will have many exciting things happening in 2016, so stay tuned!

A Lovely Year of Finishes – December 2015 Finishes Party

alyof2015

Merry Christmas! We made it to the very last link up of the year. Come back in the next few days for a very important announcement about 2016.  In the meantime, I was able to finish up some Christmas sewing. I made a few of my embroidered scarves, all the designs were purchased from Urban Threads. The scarves were finished on my wonderful serger. Now that I know how to use that little machine I’m really beginning to enjoy it!

Merry Disney Vacation Part 2

We had so much fun in Disneyland. One of the special Christmas things they do is they make handmade candy canes.  Each day it switches from California Adventures to Disneyland. You have to stand in line in the morning and get a wrist band, they only hand out a certain number for each day. We were able to get 5!  One for each us and one extra for my dad.

It was super fun to watch them make the candy canes.  They candy makers at Disneyland are just so talented!

Disney Vacation - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comWe took Anne to the Frozen princess salon that they have at Downtown Disney.  She had such a good time getting all dolled up. It is always fun to get to spoil her just a little bit with something special like this. I wasn’t sure at first if we should do it, but my hubby reminded me that this isn’t an every day occurrence and it would make life long memories.

Disney Vacation - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.comI think one of the coolest (literally) parts of our vacation was discovering that it now snows at California Adventures! Olaf, from the movie Frozen, has his own little winter wonderland. Anne got to make snow angels and play indoors while it actually snowed on her. We all loved the magic of it! We even went on a short toboggan ride!

Disney Vacation - https://www.sewbittersweetdesigns.com

Anne loves the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas and we got to meet Jack Skellington. She was so excited! We also got the chance to go on the Haunted Mansion ride when it was transformed into the Nightmare Before Christmas movie. It was so exciting to see it set up differently.

We had so much fun!

Only a few more days left until Christmas and then I will be back to sewing my heart out. I have some exciting projects coming up in 2016 and I am looking forward to sharing them with you as the year unfolds!
